A Metric Tonne

Found a nice loop posted on the internet which, together with the ride out and back from London nudged the total length just over the 100km mark (hence the title). The roads loop around quite a few landmarks from my formative years although I’ve never strung them together but between them they take in 3 significant climbs on the 30 mile loop. Leith Hill (the 2nd highest point in the South East of England), Ranmore Common and the increasingly familiar slog up the slopes of Box Hill (technically the easiest of the three climbs but coming as it does after the other two, it wasn’t exactly a cake walk). The details and route are here and if you’re looking for a ride around the Surrey Hills I would strongly recommend this one. Quiet roads, pretty villages, smooth tarmac and some challenging hills including this one up the hill to Ranmore….probably the worst of the lot! (although the profile of the ride would suggest otherwise … don’t always believe the numbers!)
